Introduction:

Unique Hydra is able to provide training on a number of different levels through its dedicated training facility. The training provided includes technical courses suited to the commercial sub-sea industry, marine vessel automation and control, and the military market. Our marine dynamic positioning training course is Nautical Institute accredited and we are extremely proud of our track record in training competent DP operators. DP courses

DP introduction course - 2 days

This course is ideal for shore-base managers, superintendents, project-related personnel, ship owners, field operators, auditors, and personnel needing more information on the basic knowledge of Dynamic Positioning systems and the regulations available. Theory combined with practical time on the simulators provides for an excellent introduction to DP. (max 6 students)

 

DP basic operator course - 5 days

This is the first phase of the Nautical Institute (NI) DP operator certification scheme. This course is suited for navigators, DP operator trainees and other users of DP systems who require the Nautical Institute's DP operator certification scheme. The course comprises the Nautical Institute training curriculum on basic Dynamic Positioning in combination with a practical approach with hands-on simulator training. Course participants will be issued with the Nautical Institute DP operator's logbook at the end of the basic operator course. (max 6 students)

 

DP advanced operator course - 5 days

The DP advanced operator course is the third phase of the Nautical Institute (NI) DP operator certification scheme; 1st phase being the DP basic course and 2nd phase being thirty days of sea-going experience. The course provides further insight into the Dynamic Positioning system, and the students gain more operational experience and confidence in DP vessel-handling on the simulators. The course will include the Nautical Institute DP operator’s logbook. (max 6 students)

Training courses on offer

KMDSI maintenance and repair technician helmet and band-mask course - 3 days

The helmet and band-mask course is designed and intended to instruct commercial divers, tenders, and technicians on routine maintenance, inspections and repair of Kirby Morgan helmets and band-masks. All technicians receive KMDSI technical updates and bulletins, as well as newsletters. The course instructs on the use of Kirby Morgan operational check lists A2.1 through A2.6, helmet and band-mask overhaul procedures, proper log maintenance and repairs, cleaning and sanitizing, face Port Insert inspection and testing, monthly helmet inspection procedure, daily pre/post dive procedures, supervisor pre-dive inspections, supervisor in water checks, and calculation of proper supply pressure and volume requirements.

The maximum amount of students booked per course is 6 only. Due to the popular demand of these courses, bookings will be done on a first come first serve basis.
We also offer the Kirby Morgan Technician Helmet Course to company groups.  Should you have a few people from your company wanting to do the course, we can offer this at a date that is convenient to your organisation.

The KMDSI technician course does not allow the technician to complete repairs as an agent. ONLY KMDSI DEALERS CAN PERFORM REPAIRS AS AN AGENT.

Pressure systems technical course - 5 days

The students are instructed in the theory of pressure, and regulations relating to pressure systems. This is followed by applications and testing, during which the student will gain practical knowledge of low, medium and high pressure systems. The student will be able to competently handle pressurised systems with a full understanding of the dangers associated with them. This course is scheduled on demand. (min 6 students)

Oxygen systems and cleaning course - 2 days

The oxygen systems and cleaning course is designed to follow successful completion of the pressure system course. On Day 1, the oxygen system course provides instruction on the theory of oxygen systems, and regulations relating to oxygen systems and oxygen cleaning. This is followed, on Day 2, by a full day of application and testing where the students will gain practical knowledge of different types of oxygen systems, and different oxygen cleaning techniques. The student will be able to competently handle oxygen systems, and disassemble and clean some basic valves and fittings for oxygen systems. The student will have a complete understanding of the dangers associated with oxygen systems and the correct handling and cleaning thereof. This course is scheduled on demand. (min of 6 students)

This course is specifically designed around the requirements of the military organisation and the equipment that they are specifically using and operating. Unique Hydra are able to tailor the course to their specific requirement and needs. This course is designed and priced to meet the specific requirements of our clients.
